“Grindcore Lu’au” de Wadge es un disco que mezcla la brutalidad del grindcore con un imaginario tropical y satírico, convirtiéndose en una rareza dentro de la escena.
Publicado en 2011 por el sello Grindcore Karaoke, este álbum canadiense juega con la estética hawaiana y el surf punk, pero lo hace desde la crudeza del grindcore y el cybergrind. Las canciones son rápidas, ruidosas y llenas de humor absurdo, con títulos que parodian clichés culturales (“Basking Under the Great Frost of the Eternal Hawai’ian Winter”, “Big Wave Grindcore Slack Attack”). Para un fan del género, el disco es tanto un homenaje como una burla: un carnaval de blast beats y distorsión que se ríe de sí mismo mientras mantiene la intensidad extrema.
